Second. CCleaner is really good.
What are some good defraggers that you're using? I use the one that Windows XP has. Aren't they more or less the same?

according to a fairly recent article my buddy has been harping on for that last 2 months... defragmentation is pointless with modern hardware. In general the article stated that you won't see enough of an improvement in seek/read/write times of modern hard drives to make up for the time spent defragging.
I still use it on machines that have issues, or on my own machine if I remove files that are greater than 10gb in total size. I use the XP included tool. IMO, YMMV, just say no.

I'd like to see that article. Being a CS grad, I believe he is wrong, because that is the inherent flaw of how NTFS file systems treat the writing of files.

I'll email my buddy to see if he can get me the info on it.

I'll have to check out Ccleaner.
I can tell you what not to use....Registry Mechanic. Unless of course you plan to reformat real soon cause that's what you'll be doing just after.
I even put in a system restore point before I ran it...ruined me.

I wonder if they considered how Vista's file caching works and its impact on the testing.
