Thunderbird link problem

I am using Thunderbird for e-mail and Internet Explorer 7 for web browsing. When I receive a web link via e-mail and click on it the page that comes up in Explorer is always what I have as my home page. If I change the "Home Page" address or set it to "blank", that is where the e-mail link will take me. There is probably an easy fix for this but I'll be damed if I can figure it out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Clint

Use Firefox 3?
As far as a real answer, I don't have one. I haven't used TBird in quite a while. Does it allow you to right click the link and have options (new tab, new window, etc?). Perhaps there is a CTRL Click, or Shift Click option that will shortcut to new tab.
I haven't looked into IE's tabbed browsing much because I mainly use Firefox, but try checking the options in IE to see if there are options for remote link (links from other programs) handling.

Thanks for your reply.
Went to the Tabbed browsing settings. Set it to open links from other programs in a new window. Same settings as my other computer that works fine. It seems like it's about to open the link you want and then wham! It goes to what ever the home page is set to be. Like being re-directed if you will. I've un-installed the google tool bar. Didn't help.
I have used FireFox. There are things I like and dislike in both IE and FireFox. This is my wifes computer so I like to keep it simple for her. Simple means staying with what she's use to. As a last resort, I will switch her over if I have to.
Thanks,
clint

it would seem odd that it would direct you to your own home page, but have you scanned for spyware to make sure that's not an issue? How about HiJackThis? if you aren't familiar with it, you could post the log here or PM it to me and I could take a look at it.

That is strange indeed. I never had this problem.
Make sure Thunderbird is updated to the latest version

Well, I ran all of the spyware and anti-virus programs. The usual load of tracking cookies. I downloaded IE 7 and did a reinstall. That fixed it. Who would have thought? Anyway, thanks for your help. It's nice to know there is a place to go for help when all else has failed.
