powerpoint to video software? free?

Anyone know of a program that converts a powerpoint presentation to some sort of video file, that is free?

I remember messing with powerpoint conversions before for a relative and no program I used did it very well. Hopefully they have gotten better over time ;)

You can also use OpenOffice to EXPORT it to a swf file, html, tons of formats, but no AVI or MPG. www.openoffice.org

If I ever had to give a presentation in class or something, I always just exported to PDF and set it to full screen and to click through when I got up to do my presentation. Not sure if that would fit your needs or not but worth a shot.

Also, as KnightRid mentioned, openOffice exports to plenty of formats and if none of those work for what you need you could possible find a program to more easily convert one of those to video (maybe FLV can be converted IDK).

If none of that works, there's always the desktop recording software...just tape your powerpoint at full screen and there you go.

I did this recently and used Snagit to convert into an .avi file. Basically just let the presentation run full-screen once so that it's loaded in memory. Then fire up whatever you are using to capture the screen and let it run. I also lowered my screen resolution to minimum - not sure if you really need to do this or not.

I think you can download a trial copy of snagit through techsmith.

I then used Nero to edit the video and add sound.

Not sure if that helps, there are quite a few "guides" out there on how to do this.
