PS Brush editor

the ongoing quest to figure out how to make art continues!

this time i'm trying to find a way to edit ABR (photoshop brush) files, and take out certain brushes from the file, as I'm just trying to clean up the brushes menu and get rid of just a few brushes.
i know already that i could open the brushes i want as images within GIMP and save them again, but is there another way? nevermind, GIMP says ABRs are an "unknown file type".

I'm pretty sure you can just stick the ABR files in your Brushes folder and it will automatically be installed next time you start the GIMP. If it doesn't work make sure you have the latest stable version (which I believe is 2.4.*). I've not had any issues with brushes but then I don't use custom ones often.

Can also convert them to GBR if you like, may be simpler to edit that way but I don't know...[link]

i've been placing them in the brushes folder for a while now, i just want to get rid of a few brushes. Converting them in the way that you suggested (via abrviewer) seems a bit time consuming, as i've tried it before, but i guess i can do that.

If this method doesn't work either then that's really as far as my knowledge of custom brushes goes, sorry... :toimonster:

Also, reading step 7 in that first link implies that you can batch process with abrviewer...
