Got any addons for it?

When you open it and its 'loading', what kind of CPU use is it using in the task manager?

Toolbar > Help > About Mozilla Firefox - this will show you what version you have
alternately, Toolbar > Help > Check For Updates - would be a good idea too

3.0.3 installed on my machine last night. Could have been an issue with the prior release, as the updates don't usually come 2 in a couple days.

Shut Firefox down and restart. It should auto install the latest version, again, and maybe that will help you. I'm having no issues currently with XP Pro and Firefox 3.0.3.

Yeah, I noticed that, was rather surprised to find that it had gone to 3.0.3 so soon.

Only other thing I can suggest Kappage is a complete re-install of firefox.

It seems Firefox 3.0.3 only had one bug fix: [link]

not true it happens on linux sometimes, it just slows down. Fix at least on Linux is to backup your bookmarks.html and pref.js, delete your Mozilla cache folder, launch firefox, close it, and then move those two files back.

You can recover any saved passwords in Firefox, just go to Tools>Options...>Security>Saved Passwords...>Show Passwords to view them.

I hate this feature. Makes me not want to save my passwords. Maybe if they had a password protect on the feature, then it would be cool.

If you're worry about security try a proper password manager like KeePass...there's even a portable version you can take on the road with you and always have your passwords with you.
Features

KeePass Portable Screenshot KeePass is a free/open-source password manager or safe which helps you to manage your passwords in a secure way. You can put all your passwords in one database, which is locked with one master key or a key-disk. So you only have to remember one single master password or insert the key-disk to unlock the whole database. The databases are encrypted using the best and most secure encryption algorithms currently known (AES-256 and Twofish).

What antivirus are you running? When I download an exe file it takes ages to "finish" and become usable. Apparently it's an issue with FF and NOD32. Granted I'm running NOD32 2.7 when 4 is available. That's because 2.7 isn't a bloated mess like 3 and 4. If you have an AV program check for an update. Maybe it's scanning the firefox.exe every time you open it up?
