Badaboom v1.1 Still Can't Transcode Fraps Movies

Post by Apoptosis »

I've been playing with Badaboom version 1.1 for a few days here and it's a nice update from version 1.0, but still can't do everything I want it to do.

I tried using Badaboom Media Converter version 1.1 and it is disappointing seeing that video conversion with FRAPS files is still not supported. All hard core gamers have FRAPS and a high end graphics card (usually NVIDIA) and they record games to watch again for practice or to upload to their website for viral marketing. These game records get huge and to upload them to a site like YouTube it takes hours and many are over the 1GB limit that YouTube has. Since Badaboom requires an NVIDIA GPU with CUDA abilities I figured Elemental would be all over this market. Just wanted to share this with our community to see if I'm crazy for expecting this or if I am right in wanting this feature in Badaboom. I think it would be nice to have and something that would make it a necessary to purchase badaboom...

Here is a capture of the error I got when trying to transcode a fraps video to YouTube for use with today's article on Cryostasis that I've been working on for NVIDIA. Notice they added YouTube and Blackberry Bold video output options! :)

not sure what kind of encoding fraps uses, but maybe theres something to convert fraps into something then convert that? that knida defeats the purpose though...

yeah I used Windows Movie Maker to make this 5min clip:

That file was over 4GB in size when recorded with FRAPS and it was reduced to a 50MB file with Windows Movie Maker with the intro and ending in under 5 minutes... I just imagined with Badaboom it would take seconds to do the same thing.
