Years ago in another life I did CADD Drafting, but was with nothing I would call simple or inexpensive. Anyway have a few project ideas floating around in what is left of my mind and thought some kind of "sketching " software would be cool. Especially when trying to do a fabrication drawing.
Suggestions?

Googles sketchup application is great for a simple 3D sketch, very easy to use. If you've used CAD software in the past, you may like something a bit more powerful like
Blender. Both are free.

Ok there are a couple options...
PC side there is
Alibre
https://www.alibre.com/products/xpress/ ... or_all.asp
Double CAD (haven't tried this yet)
http://doublecad.com/Products/DoubleCAD ... fault.aspx
Linux side (haven't tried this yet, but keeps getting recommended)
http://brlcad.org/d/download
Now if you want to make something but dont have the tools/skills/time/ect..
http://www.emachineshop.com/ they have cad program that you can DL, draw your part, tell them what you want it made off, how you want it made, and how many and it will quote you a price and lead time.
