Ok, so for those of you who use this program, you know how awesome it is. For those of you who don't then I suggest you try it if you need to encode video. Now for my issues I've been seeing. I have been using handbrake to encode my movies to .m4v (h.264) encoding which will be read by windows media center with my codec pack installed. All was well and good until it updated. I read the change log. 0.9.4 has a lot and I mean a lot of changes. there are only two video types now. .mp4 and .mkv, no more .avi, .m4v, or any of the other multitudes of file types. no more Xvid either, only ffdshow (Sp?) though it adds a quality option which eliminates the need for dual pass encoding.
if you like .mp4 or .mkv better, you are in the money if you want to encode movies to windows media center, you are in trouble, unless you know of a good .mp4/.mkv codec that installs into windows media player. Just a warning, I had to go to filehippo to get 0.9.3 again especially since it was hanging on some of my dvd/video_ts folders.
Also try
Yammm if you haven't yet and have a dvd library on your computer
