I am looking for a free windows software that is good fore editing videos. Like vegas...but free. or like the one in ilife. I was thinking about a hackintosh but that is extreme. Any ideas?

Agree, the good ones you have to pay for.
I use Pinnacle for my video reviews because it is just easy to use. Oh and I got it free with some hardware (can't remember what). Even if you can pick it up for $100, it is worth it in my book. If you do not need any of the extra transitions, etc, then I think you can get it for around $50 on sale.
