Updated driver reinstalls every power-up.

I replaced a wired mouse with a Microsoft wireless one. There were no installation problems, and the new drivers were downloaded automatically. As a side effect, the new driver re-installs everytime that the computer powers-up and Windows loads. How do I correct this irritation.
