It seems that ALC850 was supported since A3.50 :)
So give the new drivers a shot!

A3.50 -
1. Support ALC850.
2. Add some customized settings.
3. Use "Wave PCI" architecture for ATI chipset.
4. Improve Jack Sensing algorithm to eliminate noise.
5. Show "Real-Time SPDIF-in Monitor" node for nVidia chipset
6. Remove ICH2/ICH3/ATi chipsets IDs.

I'm not really into audio drivers so I wouldn't know how to answer your question. (What's SPDIF anyway? lol see?) I hope someone else comes along and helps you. :)

Have you tried a search on Google?
