Windows Media Player Removal

How would one go about removing Window Media Player 9 or 10 properly from a system if you did not use it or want to use and don't like it, have read about many different ways others have went about removing, any opinion here.

I would go to the add and remove program in the control pannel and then go to add remove windows componets and your all set.

Thanks that is what I thought but some other so called no it all's in the industry said it cannot be removed because it is a required component,.
