Google Inc. will introduce a spreadsheet program Tuesday, continuing the Internet search leader's expansion into territory long dominated by Microsoft Corp.
Although it's still considered a work in progress, Google's online spreadsheet will offer consumers and businesses a free alternative to Microsoft's Excel application — a product typically sold as part of the Office software suite that has been a steady moneymaker for years.

lol Google has really been up to making software hasn't it? First the toolbar, then the picture software, then Earth... Nice to see a big company making some effort to bring quality software to the world. More competition can only mean better programming for us
The new software has betteer be good!
Thank you for the post FZ1

Yes, I like Open Office very much and I use Excel, Word etc ALL THE TIME at work. Unless you are really using the extreme functions of the MS Apps OO is a great replacement.Tim Burton wrote:I hope Open Office keeps improving. I love that program.pcrobot wrote:Cool! I'll have to see how it matches up with OpenOffice.org...

So how many have tried it out? From my experiences it was pretty rudimentary, which is kind of expected for a web app but with no really major problems and what it does it does pretty well. Haven't found a real use for it, since usually whenever I need a spreadsheet program I'll pull out a version of portable open office. Of coures for those who don't have or want that option it could be pretty helpful especially as used in a tab for research purposes.
