DivX 6.2.5 Codec Released

Post by kenc51 »

Here are some of the highlights:

* A new "Sharpening" post-processing feature that enhances texture and sharpens any DivX 3, 4, 5 or 6 video
* Optimizations for decoding and post-processing
* Performance enhancements for post-processing on HT, SMP, and dual core processors

The results are impressive. In almost every case DivX 6.2.5 is significantly faster than DivX 6.2.2 for playback - more than 30-50% in many cases, and up to 63% in the best case! The results also show that the new sharpening filter, while greatly improving picture fidelity, also demands less CPU horsepower than the old deringing method.

Have you installed this yet? On my desktop DivX plays fine but on my laptop some video feeds have a coloring problem. Like I'm looking at a corrupted file.

I've installed it here on both the pc and laptop......I have the same prob with my laptop (intel intergrated gfx) --> if I set divx to use "custom deblocking" and set it to min (under the postprocessing tab) all is fine

I think I'll just use Xvid on the laptop........

Works great on the main pc.......but can seen any real difference.
I didn't/can't test CPU usage as both cores are already @ 100% folding :P

My laptops running a ATI Radeon 9600 Mobility w/ the latest Omega drivers as eMachines doesn't seem to ever release a drive update. I'll have to try your suggestion when I get home.

They do not work with mine. I've tried every version of the ATI Catylist drivers and never had them work correctly on my laptop.
