Windows Defender

Post by Razorbacx »

I recently ran into a problem with Windows Defender where it completely locked up my computer. I managed to finally get Task Manager to open and closed it (Windows Defender) down and everything ran smoothly for about 10 seconds until it started running again. So, I completely removed the program and my computer is running faster and smoother than it was prior to installing Windows Defender. Has anyone had any issues with this program? I've had problems with IE7 and now Windows Defender and was just wondering if I am alone out there.

Thanks,

Still wondering if anyone else out there has had any issues with Windows Defender locking up their system or generally freaking out like typical Microsoft Software does. Thoughts anyone?

Yes, I've used Windows Defender since it was just rebadged program from GIANT. I noticed it started running amok with near total CPU usage, so I uninstalled it, DLed the latest exe and reinstalled it.

Around the same time I developed the same problem on the laptop, at which point I realized it was very likely because these two systems were using very old versions of Windows Defender, and likely a recent "patch" likely broke them. Simply removing and installing the latest build fixed it, I've not had issues with it since, although I've made a point to reinstall them now when I notice a major update to the program has been done.
