WOW. I just installed Symantec Client Security yesterday and since then my PC is in a continuous reboot.
This morning I got an error "windows cannot find the "system32 directory"

This is also a fresh install............thankfully, as I'm just about to reinstall XP.

I think it's the Firewall that's doing it, as before this happened, Firefox would crash and the firewall would prompt me saying there was an attack.from IP 192.168.*.* :? How can I be attacked from my own LAN :?
My LAN consists of a Linux box, the XP rig and my Laptop (linux)
The XP rig wasn't even on the correct workgroup yet......

I have used Symantec AV before and no problems...........I wouldn't even touch a Norton product though (Norton = home users market | Symantec AV = Corp market)

ok it turns out that norton doesnt like you overclocking your pc to much

I lowered my overclock to 3Ghz and installed norton 360 and it worked

when i tried to install norton 360 with it overclocked at 3.5Ghz it failed several times
also at 3.5GHZ my msn stopped singing me in automatically at start-up

now iv lowered my overclock to 3Ghz all is well

:drinkers:

Norton is a virus. Go with NOD32 or Kaspersky.

EDIT: It isn't really a virus, but I just say it is since it massively hogs system resources and takes forever to scan and still misses important things.

I have tried Kaspersky it stuffed up big time I won't touch it again  , I have never heard of nod32 but im running vista 64 so unless they have nod64 I don't think it will work?

Yes its true previous norton anti-virus and internet security were completely crap and hogged resources, but Norton 360 works great  (no startup-or shut-down errors like prev versions of norton and not a resource hog)

I'm running norton 360 on my vista 64 machine and my other xp pro machine never had anyprobs (until i started overclocking @3.5Ghz thats when norton 360 began stuffing up @ 3.2 it works again) but that wasnt really norton's fault it was just an unstable overclock
