Cool, good luck!
Just remember, if you have to force it, you're probably doing something wrong ;)

Well my computer sure know's how to scare the cr*p outta me! lol.

I did it last night.
Had a bit of trouble getting the fan off at first. Had trouble getting the new one on too, but it wasnt me having to force it trouble, it was just awkward as the motherboard was still in its casing and quite close to the power supply at the top where i needed to get to it.

It went (i thought) smoothly. I connected the heatsink to the motherboard, put all the connections back in around the back and checked everthing was ok.

Turned the computer on and for about 2 seconds I was over the moon... it powered up, then stopped dead. I was thinking uh-ho this is going to end up costing me alot more as i would have to buy new heatsinks and all sorts.

Tried it a few more times last night and it didnt work.

When i got up this morning i thought just for the heck of it id give it another try but i wasnt holding up much hope.

Power on, waited 2 seconds... still on... waited a couple more seconds... still on.

To wrap this little (long) tail up.... it was working this morning, i didnt have enough time to do benchmarks etc as i had to leave for work.

I went into the control panel though to check things out. 2.17 ghz, previously 1.67.

Ill give it another shot at lunchtime..... here's hoping it comes on for me again!!

Maybe the heatsink needed a few hours to sort of all stick together or something once i put it in, i dunno... im just happy its working!

Thanks for all the help guys \:D/

HAHA, that's crazy. Sorry to hear you had some troubles, but almost every upgrade is gonna come with a difficulty of some kind or another. Glad you got it up and running though.
Just to try and troubleshoot your problem a little bit, how many total watts is your power supply?
Hopefully it worked out whatever bug it had and it will run solid for ya from now on.
Glad to hear your upgrade was a success though!! :drinkers:

Voltage 115v/230v
+3.3v +5v +12v

Current 8A/4A
-5v -12 +5VSB

+5v & +33v Combined Load 160w

I wrote that down before, i read those details on the power supply.

Is that what you were talking about?

Oh, sorry, I didn't know you already posted your PSU specs before

Is there something that says like "total output" or "total max power" or something? It should be in Watts. It's probably the biggest number in Watts listed....
