overclocking an Opty 165 on an Asus A8N-SLI Premium

Post by muchmore »

Has anyone had any experience overclocking an Opteron 165 on an Asus A8N-SLI Premium? I have tried my best and I can only get it up to 2.0 Ghz (up from 1.8Ghz). Any more than that and my system craps out. I am using ram that is supposed to be able to be clocked to 500 MHZ (250 x 2) from Corsair.

If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it, though I have a feeling it is my motherboard that is holding me back.

the ram might be your problem. even if it is overclockable to 250mhz, i suggest leaving it at 200mhz using dividers and find your highest fsb first, burn it in, and then start toying with the ram.
