Barcelona tomorrow!
Can't wait! (Yes I had to make a thread about this)

Re: Barcelona tomorrow!
lol, I was being slow then and had to think what you meant
Will you be watching the video feed?
(Provided that it isn't all sucked up by everyone watching)
I've heard some good rumours lately, so hopefully there will be some nice benchies to go along with the launch spiel.

Re: Barcelona tomorrow!
Of course I'll watch the webcast, hoping for some juicy benchmarks
Tomorrow is launch day for AMD's quad-core server processors: Opteron. Desktop parts (Phenom) should be available later this year.
NDA will be lifted so we should finally be able to see real benchmarks all over the internet!

Re: Barcelona tomorrow!
Thats exactly why even as big as an AMD fan boy as I am I will not be watching the webcast. I dont care about anything except price availibility and performance and i can find out all that from here and other online publications. Or in other words ill let others watch it for me and tell me the good bits lol.NDA will be lifted so we should finally be able to see real benchmarks all over the internet!

Re: Barcelona tomorrow!
We have a smart man. I'm with you. I no longer have a desktop nor feel the need for one. It'll be nice to see what these babies can do.HONkUS wrote:Thats exactly why even as big as an AMD fan boy as I am I will not be watching the webcast. So what was the news?
Anadtech did a good guesstimate of how the Phemons will probably perform by using mostly desktop components in the server they had for testing: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/sh ... spx?i=3092.
I'll let you read the outcome

Re: Barcelona tomorrow!
Meh, I'm not impressed! Even if the desktop chip suppports faster ram than the Opty, I'll still stick with Intel for the next 6mths at least.
Nice try AMD

Re: Barcelona tomorrow!
It would've been a great CPU... 6 months ago.
Hopefully Phenom at higher clock speeds on a newer chipset will perform better.
