Supposedly, 1-5 they are ranked as follows...

1. CABNE 05xx (excluding 0540)
2. CABYE 0540
3, CABNE 0540 / CABYE 05xx (excluding 0540)
4. CAB2E 05xx
5. CABGE 05xx

Picked up an Opteron 165 (Dual Core, "Italy") for my shuttle. Running great at 2.4 so far.

OK, word is out that AMD is going to stop letting retailers sell the 939 Opty's because of the heavy enthusiast use...we shall see. I might load up :snakeman:

Well, I'm **hoping** I'm saving some money in the future. Plus, if AMD really does pull the plug on retail sales of the Opteron, I should get a decent price for the 148 :)

It's al about sales, and I don't think that AMD will stop the sale of one of their hottest movers in the Tweakers area............., although OC'ers are a very very small % of AMDs business.
And seeing as AMD has started out selling Intel in the desktop market, I don't think they want to slow things down right now, but after the holidays might be a different story. This is the biggest retail time of the year, sales, sales, sales, is the bottom line.

I dunno, more and more people are overclocking...at least the peopel who would spend $ on a FX CPU. Who's goign to pay $1000 for one of those when you can get the same from a $200 opty? They'll lose a good chunk of change.

no joke, it's like Ken was talking about before.....it's all about how much you're willing to pay for an unlocked multi. Personally, I have no use for it, I can get a decent OC by adjusting frequency.....it just provides for more of a headache down the road IMO, although the chips are stout. The Opty would be stout enough for me, hell for that matter the X2 would do me fine....

OK, according to a tankguys post <HERE>, January is the next time they will be getting shipments (if at all) and it seems to be the same for all retailers. :(

I ordered a dual-core Opteron 175 last night. Should have it by Friday if the reseller and shipment is not delayed. Unfortunately due to other circumstances, I will be using OCZ 4000 Gold Rev 2 2x512 sticks. Plus due to having a SCSI controller I was further limited with the choices for a motherboard for this proc. And then I needed 3 PCI slots for the controller, the TV Tuner, and the sound card. So, I ordered the Abit AN8 Ultra - one of the few without a miserable fan on the chipset and can handle the memory sticks as well as have room for a PCI-X SCSI controller and have two remaining PCI slots for the other cards.

Main use for the system: Pinnacle Liquid Edition 6 Pro and when Avid 7 comes out, I get the free upgrade.

Yes, PastorJay - this is the pointreyes you know from other places. :)
