And I have one question to those in the "KNOW" ...

... Will I beable to use my Asus Crosshair Mobo with these new phenom processors. There's mention of support for am2 & am2+, what's the difference?

yes, existing AM2 platforms will be compatible with AM2+ Phenoms but not socket 1207.

AMD AM2+ will have split plane power, so you'll have more control over the voltages on each core the CPU and Chipset. The AM2+ processor can be used in an AM2 socket, but can't obviously use this new technology... If you put an AM2 processor in an AM2+ motherboard it won't be any different.

Hope that clears some things up... That's the main difference that I have been told by AMD in my briefings. When I get home I'll post a slide up for you if I can dig it up.

But the 1207 is what the FX Phenoms will use correct?

I know there is now way to know for sure but when will legit reviews get one of the new cpus to test. I mean based on the projected release of Q3 2007. Don't you guys usually get them a month in advance for testing on current and upcomming chipsets?

from what I know AMD is just now starting to test their B1 core revision. The core shown at Computex was B0 and apparently it has stability issues if clocked higher then 1.6 ghz. So in other words it'll be a while before anything other than Engineering Samples are released.

As for 1207 I think thats for the FX line that will be put in a Quadfather system.

yeah so my oc'ed 4200 has about the same gigahertz output.. as a quadcore. 1 gig more of output...

you cant really compare clock rates between different families of processor. I mean a 2.2ghz K8 chip out performs a 2.2ghz P4 but at the same time a 2.2ghz C2D kicks the K8's butt so clock speeds among different chips tells you nothing

well yeah in that sense i was just talking about raw out put of gigahertz

The new HyperTransport will be available on the new amds, but it will revert back to the current speed of HyperTransport (half the speed of the new) on a am2 board.

Does anyone know that since the core can have different voltages, if you can overclock each core individually?
