Hi,
Anyone any ideas why my 4800+ s939 cpu has decided it likes a diet of psu's for breakfast, dinner & tea!!! This cpu has been a swine to setup from the beginning but now it has taken a liking to my bloody psu's!!! first up was a generic 500w psu, which i can understand my 4800+ did not get on with a t all that i can accept but it has just eaten 2x650w atrix 500t's as well, ok atrix are not top league but they are a decent psu, so now i am on a rather expensive (to me) silverstone Zeues 650w i do hope they get on as my bank manager is not happy with me at the moment!!!

Well the reason you are going through so many PSU is you are using no-name cheap POS models. A PSU is like the heart of a computer and if you use a crap PSU it'll have so many "heart attacks" that it'll die.

Quality should always be considered when choosing a PSU and you should never skimp out as you get what you pay for and you'll pay for it is you use a crappy generic PSU. I went through three generic no-name PSU before I learn a long time ago.

Seriously, Your motherboard might have gone bad and is taking out PSU's systematically. I'd be hesitant to put another PSU in there.

Check to make sure your motherboard isn't grounding out against the case. Also get a multimeter and check the voltages to ensure everything is getting the recommended voltages.

Another thing to check would be to check you MB out of it's case, some MB's are sensitive with the standoff's in your case especially if they are stamped or the square snap in type you might be getting capacitance to ground, not a direct short but making the system use more power then it should. A solution to this is use the small washers on the bottom of your MB. You can use a bit of super Glue to make them stay in place.
