No guarantees, my CBBID 0504GPMW 3000+ topped out at about 2200 MHz, but every chip is different, and newer cores tend to clock better.

You can look up you CPU on http://www.overclockers.com they used to have a data base of CPU's and how well they over clock. Let me know if you cant find it I will look for it, but there should be a link on the main page.

What motherboard? If you are using a cheap board then don't expect much, if anything. The only way to know how far the CPU will go is to test it. Unfortunately overclocking isn't an exact science.

It should clock pretty high. I have a Sempron 2600 on a 754 board that will clock from 1.6Ghz to 2.4Ghz with minimal voltage changes.

If you do get a Sempron make sure you try and get one with 256Kb of cache and not 128Kb.

Major A, you're a lot of help, thanks! I'm getting the Sempron 3000+ for AM2 (1.6GHz, 256KB L2) all of this overclocking is with the stock cooler right?

Sorry I forgot to add that, no I'm using a Zalman 7000 AlCu. I have a Scythe Katana on another computer and I think it works better with less noise. It was cheaper too.
