I've been waiting for this processor awhile now, but I'm surprised to see the lack of hype surrounding it. True AMD fans have been waiting for something like this for quite some time now, so you'd think many would consider this a Godsend. But then again, few know this processor even exists. Anyway...I'm considering purchasing this processor, but am short on cash and waiting on a price drop, but...word is these processors are going to be pretty limited, so I'm wondering if a price drop is ever going to happen. I'm assuming there are going to be limited reviews of this processor considering how AMD has yet to supply many known 'enthusiasts' with a sample. Are we going to see a review here at LegitReviews.com?
Good to see AMD releasing a new CPU, and finalizing the X2 family.

Re: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ - Your thoughts
The 6400+ is in reality not a whole lot better then the flop of a processor the 6000+ it is rated at the power usage, and is 200mhz faster. I still think that the 5600+ is a better deal, also the 6400+ comes without a heatsink/fan. Now seeing how I haven't seen a review of it I don't know how overclocking will go, but unless it overclocks amazingly it's not worth the $$$.

The 6400+ features an unlocked multiplier, so I'm guessing overclocking this processor is going to be pretty interesting

Re: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ - Your thoughts
Even if it's unlocked, the architecture just doesn't clock much higher than that on air or even water cooling. Most enthusiasts go for FSB (I know, I know, Reference clock
) overclocking anyways for various reasons.

Yes, I do have a 6400+ although it didn't come from AMD... You can see some of the numbers here: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/554/1/
For how it stacks against other ones...

and this will go together nicely...

Kind of cool to see it scale from 500 points to over 6000 points!
