I just finished an article on the 90nm 3500+. I run it 24/7 at 2.64, it idles at 33C using an XP-120. Great processor. Ialso shows a slight performance increase over the 130nm Newcastle (1-5%)

I'm going to be water cooling it with my custom system after I get a different CPU block, so I should get some pretty good temps. I still need to get some different ram, I'm not really sure what I want yet, I'm going to use my old Mushkin PC3200 Black to start with and see where it goes from there.

I just changed my order from Newegg to Monarch Computer due to Monarch dropping the A64 3200 price down to $192.00 with free shipping. That price drop just paid for my CDRW for the system.

I was going to wait for the new Abit nForce 3 socket 939 board, but I had sold my second system and needed another pretty quick. I was starting to get a back log of stuff here at the house.

With what DFI has been doing with their mobos lately, I'd wait on that, I've heard anywhere from beginning of October (didn't happen) to mid November. If you really need a board now I highly recommend the ASUS A8V rev2, it has working locks and O/Cs pretty well, not to mention its very stable, the drawback is that it doesn't include the wirelss that ver1 had.. On another board, i was at Fry's with Jason last week and was looking at their mobo selection, they had tthe MSI Neo Platinum with the N-Force 3 chipset that I've been wanting to check out. I went to see if they had any in stock, they did, but only returned boards, more than 10 of them

Our review of the Abit board shows that it is one of the top runner out there and for $30 or so less than the others. But then again I guess I'm sort of a Abit fan.

To be honest, right now there is almost no difference at all in performance among the socket 939 boards.

I know, given the right components they all run pretty close............I've just always had better luck with Abit. So why change a good thing.

im looking to asus or abit comming out with a strong ATI extreme 200 motherboard. I think that when i upgrade to A64 it will be that chip set as it supports pci express and has built in graphics so i dont have to buy a cheapo card now and then shell out more later on for a decent card, now i can get one built on and then save for a good card later on.

I'm up and running with the new system after Nate had to come to the rescue........... My MoBo was shipped with Bios 12, needed at least 15 to run the new 90nm CPU. So I called Nate and he said he'd loan me one of his 130nm CPU to get my system flashed. So after a 1 1/2 hour drive each way, I got the Bios flashed, OS loaded and I'm burning this beast in. The differance between this and my XP is like night and day and I'm only at default settings. My temps are totally outstanding. Abit EQ is reporting a idle temp of only 29c, I need to get folding @ home to see what load temps are going to be............ 8)

Hey Bio-Hazard, what's the good word on your s939 setup? =P~
What was your previous (Athlon XP) system running at? Would you say that your upgrade was worth it over AXP?
