Which Built-in Graphics Processor and Which MB?

Post by Groucho_Fields »

I hope you all can help me. My daughter bought The Sims 3 game and her old computer just isn't up to snuff. I am looking to replace the MB / CPU / Memory and I am on a budget of under $175. Which built-in graphics processor would you recommend? I'm looking for a MB / CPU combination that will get her through high school (3 yrs or so). A couple of boards I am looking at are the Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H (with ATI Radeon HD 3200 chipset) and the ECS GF8200A (with NVIDIA 8200 chipset) both coupled with an Athlon 64 X2 7850 processor. Any thoughts? Are either of these two graphic chipsets better than the other or would someone suggest a different graphic engine and / or motherboard? Thanks in advance for your replys! ](*,)

Sorry, GF again. I meant to post this in the AMD Motherboard section. I hope I can post this same item in two different categories.

I personally would go with the gigabyte board, but both those choices are good (assuming that if you get the ECS board that you will run it stock  )

Ypur absolute best bet if onboard is all you can do is to with the GigaByte board as the ATI 3200 will snot all over the nVidia just make sure you got plenty of fast ram and you'll be sweet

It would probably be helpful to know what it is you're starting with. You may be able to correct this issue with something as simple as a RAM upgrade and a newer GPU rather than gutting your existing machine. It's a shame you can't get the ION platform in anything but ITX format size as that would be perfect for your needs.
