AMD Phenom X4 940 Black Edition and Gigabyte GA-MA78LM-S2H

I was looking for an upgrade from my current P.O.S ECS motherboard and old E2220 processor and I came across this combination:

940 Black Edition: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product

Gigabyte Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813128408

I want a quad for my games because every new game seems more and more processor dependent and I always fall behind with my E2220.

I have all the other things besides an OS (I'll have to reformat with this new mobo for XP 64-bit, but I'll probably get Windows 7 later).

This upgrade look niceee? I have 2GB of 667mhz DDR2, am I able to overclock it to fit the motherboards minimum requirement of 800mhz ram? Or should I buy new ram too?

Thanks,
Evasion.

your ram will work fine, just have to make sure in BIOS it isnt set to 800MHz(dont set it to 800MHz if you can help it, the only thing i overclock is CPU and thats for a reason, most parts dont handle overclocking for long amounts of time, stay close to spec if possible on the RAM) i can't argue against Gigabyte boards, they are priced well and offer good features, i currently have two right now(and one is an upgrade from another gigabyte board i sold to go 890GX) and couldn't be happier

Don't buy that POS mobo it's not particularly good for OCing go for an 780 or 790 based mobo
