My friend is getting a 6800U with his new system he's building
What cpu won't bottle neck it?

any thing AMD 64 3000+ or better should do just fine. I would look at the Sandi cores like 3700+ they cost a bit more but that extra cache makes a difference.

Will he be overclocking? I have a 3000+ running at 2.52ghz (40% increase), and an X850XT PE (modded X800GTO²), and I am very much video card limited in some games.... at least, at the resolutions I like to play at.

I read somewhere (other forums) that the new 7x/x18's are so powerful that the cpu is pretty much going to be the bottleneck until the next generation comes out.

But with the 6 series, you'll probably be fine with any A64.

Depends on what games you play. My X800GTO² is only about 10% slower than a stock 7800GTX (after OC and unlock), and I am forced to run AOE3 at 1280x960 16x AF 0x AA in order to keep my framerate above 30 most of the time. I'd very much like to run 2048x1536, or turn on some Anti-aliasing, but nothing short of 7800GTX SLI would be capable of that.

If he plans overclocking, the AMD 64 3000+ (Venice Core) will be just great for him!!!

he said opened up (read: flashed to an X850XT PE) + OC'ed. so yes that would put it around GTX - 10%
