X-bit Labs wrote:As we see, even though Quake 4 originated from Doom III, where dual-core technology wasn’t supported at all, we can see a truly high-quality optimization of the gaming engine for the multi-core architectures. Looks like the software developers didn’t waste their time and modified the engine according to the latest innovations in the hardware world.
It looks like some games (Quake 4 & to a lesser extent Serious Sam) are now getting support for Dual core....!
X-bit Labs found that a X2 4800+ runs faster than a FX-57
Yeah Nvidia's new drivers support dual core, but look @ the link! Quake 4 uses 100% of BOTH cores!!!!!

Yeah, the new Elder Scrolls: Oblivion I think is supposed to be multithreaded too. It has some really amazing graphics, including full HDR all around!

That game looks AMAZING...I have the current game, came with a GFX card....I can't play RPG games tough....I need action games like COD etc.
I only get a few hrs a week of gaminng in and I want that time to be exciting!
Still dual core looks like the way to go......Just think Intels Hypertreading is out for a few years now....programs have support for it, now games are getting it too (sooner than we tought)....progs optimised for hypertreading will give even better performance when your using 2 real cpu's instead of 1 real and 1 logical cpu..

Also whats interesting in that article is the performance 1mb of cache gives!!!
& 2GB or ram is just needed YET....by early next year 2GB will be something to think about!
