Just got it today. Gonna prime it overnight, but it looks to be good at 3g!

ah yes, it's a single core Opteron with 1 MB cache..really nice OC with that chip, though I've heard Opteron has rather limited OC overhead when compared to the likes of the AMD64 equivalent (mainly referring to the comparison between both dual-core processors). Get yourself a nice high-end watercooling system like the Exos2 by Koolance, and you'll be set. Very nice clock, btw what kind of CPU cooling are you using?

What are you using to cool that sucker?? air water? thats just nuts.

What an amazing overclock. I can't even seem to be able to overclock my Thoroughbred by 400 mhz lol

i heard that the new dual core opterons overclock like crazy and that they post gaming numbers comparable to those of the fx55.... i dunno how true that is, though. anyone know?

Using water guys. A Corsair "COOL" system. Have blocks on my chipset and CPU.
These Opterons are nice little clockers.... at least some of them are. They can be pretty spordic, though these CABYE 0540 seem to be pretty good.

That's freaking nice

ohh ok, well then, you do have water, excellent. how much heat can it dissipate, in Watts? The Exos2, which is definitely a monster, can dissipate 750W of heat, and you can add multiple components with no flow problems (trust me, I know this from a very reliable source

). Nice OC though. And actually audiophile, I've heard it go the other way, that it has more limited OC capability than the X2 chips, but it a lot more stable and reliable stock and OC'd......also heard in the higher models that one of the cores get a little flaky (or it can). But, I now want the Opteron 170 dual-core, just to try it, because it's pretty much a cheap Toledo, with its sexy 1 MB X 2 cache, lol.

i heard that it's an incredible overclocker under water and mediocre on air. however, i still wanna see how it matches up to an fx55.

That operon prettymuch is an FX (1mb L2 cache)!! It would kick the crap out of an FX-55. His processor is technically an FX-60 (depending on your definition of what the FX-60 is supposed to be)...
Simply amazing. Never thought I Would see so many AMD processors hitting 3Ghz as I have with these Opterons. It makes me want one sooooo bad! I've really got my eye on those Denmarks (dual core s939 Opterons).

I am priming it now...it ran for over 4 hours before my daughter accdently shut it all down... so I am starting all over.
They do run hotter than thei A64 counterparts. 55*c at load.
I would have gotten one of these in dual core as well, but I already have a X2 3800+ that does 2.8 at 1.45 vcore, which is good enough for me...

DAAAAAMN! Can I have your 3800 then?!
...and you're getting 55ÂșC on load with water?! That's crazy, those DO run hot!
Nice work though, I'm very impressed with these chips. What stepping is it and where did you get it from?
