OC Question

Per the screenshot, I have OC'd my 3500+ winny to 2672 (8 x 334) and a divider of 140 (7/10) which by my calculations should equate to about a 223mhz RAM freq (DDR446). However, Memtest shows quite differently 334mhz (DDR668). What gives?

Just a glitch. i do not think that memtest is able to detect the strange dividers that are available (140, 180 and so forth).

Does memtest pass when it shows 334mhz?
What does CPU-Z show under the memory tab?
That is a strange one as I also come up with 233mhz memory speed with that divider.

Yeah, I ran it for 2 hours and all passed. I also ran Prime95 for 8 hours without error. Pretty good OC for a winny if I do say so myself!

Thats very good for a winchester, mine runs stable at 2.7 on water, but no more. Try hard as i might i could not get that thing even one mhz over 2.7.

That is all I can get mine to as well. Also on water.

Mine is on air and reaches about 44c at load max. I have had it up to 2750 but it's not stable. It will sometimes run SuperPi @ 2M but most times it fails. I'm probably maxed out right now as far as stability goes. Looks like most folks max between 2600-2640 with thw winny - venice is a different story.

Yeah, well, my Venice tops out in the 2400mhz range
So you and your nice Winchester can go...
lol, jk
Anwyay, what does it say for your memory speed in CPU-Z?

well, you've got to start from a little further down

It's not populating that parameter so I guess it's confused as well. I'm actually thinking of getting the OCZ Platinum DDR 600 sticks. I'm impressed that the Corsair mem I have is OC'ing to @450 at 2-3-3-7 with only an increase in v from 2.7-2.8. I haven't really pushed them yet and I think they'll go farther but I don't want to push it and fry 'em. Before long I'm going to have a completely new rig. Somethings gotta give

have you tried a newer bios? there is a newer version of memtest in the latest beta DFI Bios....sounds like a memtest issue.....you can also just burn
memtest to a cd if you don't want to use a Beta bios

I'm running the latest official BIOS...I don't really care if it's accurate or not (I can do the math) as long as I know it's not accurate. But it threw me off when I saw it and thought maybe I was doing the calculation wrong.
