Bulldozer vs. Sandy Bridge E
Bulldozer vs. Sandy Bridge E
For means of graphic's rendering which would be better, the soon released AMD FX-8150, or the Intel Core i7-3820?
Re: Bulldozer vs. Sandy Bridge E
Graphics rendering? Games? Maya? AutoCAD?
From what little I've seen the Bulldozer can't hang with the current Sandy Bridge. So to answer your question probably the Sandy Bridge E. With that said though how much better and at how much more money?

Re: Bulldozer vs. Sandy Bridge E
3dsMax, Maya, Bryce, Poser, and such things.
Re: Bulldozer vs. Sandy Bridge E
If I had to guess the Intel processor will be faster. AMD has stayed in business for a long time by offering "almost as good" performance at usually a much lower price. The only time AMD clearly had the better processor was the Athlon64 against the Pentium 4. But that was a long time ago.
You might get better results by looking to see what GPU those programs use. If you can offload the work to a video card it is usually faster than the CPU.

Re: Bulldozer vs. Sandy Bridge E
Will the Socket 2011 MB's be released the same time as the processors?
Re: Bulldozer vs. Sandy Bridge E
They should be. At the time of launch though I think there are only 3 or 4 processors.

Just saw that the launch may be delayed due to a virtualization bug.

If that's the case then you'll know whether or not to go Bulldozer or Sandy Bridge E.

I feel like this article shed some light on it.

Re: Bulldozer vs. Sandy Bridge E
i7-3820 is extreamly faster. as is the i7-980,i7-2600 in that order.
Re: Bulldozer vs. Sandy Bridge E
It is what it is... and just imagine where it will be when Ivy Bridge is released to consumers next year? Here's hoping by then AMD can get game manufacturers to optimize their games for 8 core performance.
Re: Bulldozer vs. Sandy Bridge E
Don't hold your breath. There are still the vast majority of apps that don't use all 4 cores on my Q9550. Then most games don't use more than 2GB of RAM either. The hardware is moving way faster than the application development.
