AMD FX-60 Overclocking on Stock Heatsink and Voltage
Not like I have any free time recently, but I spent tonight overclocking the AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 Processor.
Test System:
AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 Processor
ASUS AN832-SLI Deluxe Motherboad
Corsair XMS 3200LL Memory
Western Digital 250GB SATA Hard Drive
BFG Tech 7800 GTX OC PCIe Graphics Card
OCZ Technology PowerStream 600W PSU
I left everything at default and raised the memory to 2.85V in the BIOS and started raising the FSB...
First I tried 210MHz:
It worked so I went to 220MHz:
Stable at 220MHz so on to 230MHz:
At 230MHz the BIOS required a bit of tweaking to get above 230MHz, but we got an extra 3MHz without having to increase the voltage to the processor at all.
The top overclock at default voltages:
As you can tell our AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 overclocks to 3.029GHz at default CPU voltages and with the stock heat sink fan. Not a bad overclock for not really even trying. Time to change over to the DFI Expert nF4 motherboard and to strap on the water cooler!

That's what I saw on another site, maybe the CPU is a better clocker that people thought. Some high-end water should get you alot farther, you would think anyway...................

Wow...very nice. Keep in mind though that it's about a 15% OC (ok, on stock volts) and in the case of the Opterons, the first production models were the monster OC'ers and the following batches were not as good although there were a few that still did very well. These could turn out the same way.

Yeah yeah Bio ;) You're double rads definitely whoops my single BIX with low flow Panaflow. I just need a MM case, the rads and our loops would be pretty much identical.
By the way, your setup is awesome. I've been trying to talk myself into getting one of those cases.
Off topic: any idea what gains I'd see cooling CPU only going to a PA120/PA160 using an 80cfm Panaflow?
Back on topic:
I hear the FX-60's have a serious cold bug with phase.

heh, that FX-60 oc's like a dream. last of it's kind tho now that the M2 940pin DDR2 cpu's are on thier way. too bad everything costs so much.
what do you guys think about the newark 4000 cpu i'm getting? 349USD
i think i'll be running it in a DFI LP-UT 754 nf3 250gb mobo. i've got some nice water, dual bix quad 120's. from the results i'veseen other gets, i'd say i'll be humming alone around 3.2~3.4ghz.
