AMD Cuts Processor Prices!

Post by Apoptosis »

AMD has cut their prices up to 32% on some processors! The biggest cuts come to the Turion 64 line of mobile processors, with the prices of the ML-44, ML-42, ML-40, ML-37, ML-34 and ML-32 coming down by 32.6%, 25.7%, 16.4%, 16.3%, 16.3% and 5.8% per cent, respectively. In order, these six chips now cost $354, $263, $220, $184, $154 and $145 when sold in batches of 1000 CPUs. All other Turion prices remain unchanged.

Now for the good stuff!!!

The AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core desktop parts!!! The 4800+, 4600+, 4400+, 4200+ and 3800+ now cost $643, $556, $467, $362 and $301, respectively, making for reductions of 19.9%, 13.5%, 7.9%, 11.3% and 8.2% per cent.

That 4800+ and 4400+ look pretty damn interesting now eh?

Enjoy and remember to click through out shopping.com service before you go to Newegg or ZipZoomFly to help LR stay afloat.

What's awesome is that there was another price cut a little while ago. The Opty 165 is at ~$280 now.

AMD cpu

Post by dpalyu »

I have been using AMD since 1988. I will not use Intel junk. I went to their Chandler plant in 1996 and was not impressed with their production of Intel CPU. I know a number of the tech at the plant. I wouldn't hire any of them.

well, wouldn't you think that a brand new micron precess, re-tooling the entire Fab plant line for the new .65µ process cores; make the cpu's more expensive at first?

at least their temps are back down around the A64's now anyways, lol.

and they're less worser now i hear. :)

AMD is also re-tooling (or will be soon anyway) for 65nm chips. (Whether they dedicate Fab 36 to that or they convert their old fab is yet to be seen.)

I have never used Intel before :) I have always been happy with my AMD CPUs. It is nice to finally see AMD coming out on top for a change.

Actually AMD was on top briefly when the Intel Willamette procs came out. The new Athlon XP proc smoked the Willamettes. However, AMD was not in the same position like they are now with keeping the ball rolling in their favor. Hopefully the conroe will do the trick for Intel to start being competitive again. I'm glad to see that AMD is not resting on their success.
