What little I've read seems DDR5 is pricey!
Bet it will all be pricey!
I used to be able to build a PC for someone for less than $700(including OS)
Last one was I built for myself was $1k, and that's without a Video Card!
ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus (Wi-Fi)
AMD 3400G - 32G GSkill RipJaw V - {Win10} Pro 64bit, Win11 Update
Corsair H100i RGB PRO XT 240mm AIO Cooler
Corsair RM750X PSU - Corsair Force MP600 M.2 2280 1TB SSD
ASUS 27" LED LCD monitor - Lepai 2x20W Amp - Dayton B652 Spkrs

Corsair 4000D Airflow

DDR5 is going to be literally insane pricing for a couple years I imagine. Same as when we switched from DDR3 to DDR4. Although this time they are using the pandemic as a way to justify raising prices.

AM5 is going to be interesting as long as they get their asses in gear and make sure to stay up with Intel. past Intel or at least compete WAY better on pricing. If I can buy Intel for cheaper and it's faster, why would I ever want AMD?? ;) So sad the CPU wars of old don't come back and drive the prices down for everyone and make AMD a leader again!
Remember, I am opinionated and nothing I say or do reflects on anyone or anything else but me :finga:

i hate that the pandemic has caused prices to rocket. DDR5 is far to expensive to consider right now. DDR4 is quite low price at the moment but i think DDR5 has shown good performance increase over DDR4. Intel's new 12th gen has proven DDR5 is better by around 10-15% but AM5 will have a DDR5 controller only :(
