I have a emachines(W3107)Can I change processors?
AMD Sempron 3100+ 1.8GHz now
Want more GHz's
AMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual-Core 3800+
Windows Media Center 2005

2GB DDR 400MHz(PC3200)Patriot sig. line ram
250GB(7200rpm,16MB cache)SATA HDD

its a 754 socket right? If so you can put any SKT 754 AMD 64 in there you want other than mabey the mobile verisions. So you could both get more cache and more ghz.

What's mobile verisions?
What SKT 754 AMD 64 can I get;that'll be way better than my Sempron 3100+ 1.8GHz processor?

with emachine you can not change the voltage to run a mobile cpu. this i know because im on my moms emachine too.

yep thats perty much the list... just dont get a mobile/turion and you will be fine.

I would go with a 3200+ or 3400+ both represent a decent price and decent improvement in performance, you go from 1.8ghz with 256k of cache to either 512k or 1m and 2.2 or 2.4ghz. Really for the price i would recomend the 3400+ OEM seeing as you already have a cooler in your computer.
