65w 4000+ x2 AM2 in-stock next week!

I just got off the phone with both Zipzoomfly and Tigerdirect and both of them told me that both the 65w and 89w versions of the AM2 X2 4000+ will be instock as of Friday 6/15/2006.

Im excited, the AM2 X2 4000+ has 1MBx2 L2 cache, same as the 4400+ and 4800+ and at 65w it should be quite the overclocker, Oc it 400mhz and you have 4800+ speeds for many $$$ less :) Unless I missed something lol

It will be mine and I will make sweet sweet man love to it.

Yeah AMD is releasing regular (89w) and "light" (65w) versions of hteir new x2 processors, lower wattage means lower heat, lower heat means higher OC's!

if and only if I have the money to go for the am2. although I am more excited about conroe than am2 at hte moment.

Resurrecting a dead thread, I'd like to know how the 4000 X2 performed for you?

I have one here just havent finished buying the rest of the parts to put it all together yet!
Have you OC'd it and what kind of cooling are you using?

Its driving me crazy to have a new CPU and not being able to abuse it, I mean use it!

HONkUS....You never replied to my question!
Please do! I really want to know your results, I am 3-4 weeks away from putting this together and want to know what to expect!

Thanx HONkUS!

hey sorry for the slow reply. Well both zipzoomfly and tigerdirect were mistaken neither of them recieved the 65w 4000+ and about 2 days after I posted this AMD started cutting shipments of their processors with 1mb of cache due to production issues.

So I got the 4200+ and its great! ive been able to over clock it 600 mhz to 2.8gh from 2.2ghz but im using a water setup still im sure you can get some decent overclocks on air! Sorry I could'nt be more helpful!

thats awesome man, I wish I knew what I was doing more so when over clocking or at least knew as much as I do now before my build so I wouldn't have used 4 sticks of ram. 600 mhz is a good oc is there much of a performance difference between the 65nm and the 90nm processors stock at the same clock speeds?

there is zero difference in performance between Brisbane(65nm) and Windsor(90nm) cored CPU's infact someone said thato n paper the 65nm might be a fraction slower but I don't know if it was founded or not and I would imagine it isnt a measurable difference. The reason for going to 65nm however is that it takes less power to run the chip and they can produce more chips per wafer which mean less operating costs. Less power also means less heat and less heat means gigher headroom for clock speeds.

Thanx for the reply HONkUS.
Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait and see how it turns out for me.
Out of curiosity what mobo and memory are you using?
I am considering the ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe or The Crosshair.
The M2N32-SLI gets good reviews but I cant find anyone that has it to compare real world results! I guess it must be bcuz of its price!?!
