AMD to launch new Socket F/AM2 Opterons on 15 August

Source
AMD today officially confirmed that it will be announcing its-next generation Opteron workstation and server processor next Tuesday. The new processor will use the new Socket F as well as the Socket AM2 previously introduced for the desktop processors Sempron, Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2 and FX.

While it is expected that the new processors will offer a slight increase in performance and decrease in power consumption, a key feature of the new CPUs will be support for virtualization, which is formally introduced with the launch of the Socket F and AM2 Opterons. AMD also said that it will stay on its path to enable simple drop-in upgrades: The upcoming quad-core CPU generation, scheduled to launch in mid-2007, will continue to use F and AM2 sockets.

I've seen a few pictures of the MOBO's on the net, but finding a R-E-A-L socket-f in a MOBO or in a computer for review hasn't happened yet.

They got to get the thing out soon before the Christmas rush lets on.
