Overclocking the 4200+ Windsor

Post by AMD_Freaked »

Hello all!

I'm about to overclock my x2 4200+ Windsor. But I have no experience at all. The cooler is standard (stock).

Okay here are my system specifications:

Motherboard: Asus M2N SLI Deluxe
VGA: Asus EN7600GT/2DHT 256mb PCIE
RAM: Kingston 1024mb PC667 Dual Ch.
HD: Maxtor 200gb 8mb 7200rpm.
Power supply: CRS 400W.

The rest of the information you probably need you'll find in the image below:Image

Thanks for looking at this!

Thank you! But what I don't get is the fact how to let it go faster :) Where in my bios i can screw it up? Do I only have to pump up te voltages? I don't think so :p

I looked in my bios yesterday and I saw the standard speed was 2200Mhz.. But that was not changeable?

Thanks & Regards,
Jeroen

Edit Oops I'm blind :)
And I still don't get it :(

I have a very similar setup at home, same processor and Motherboard anyway.
I have just started OCing mine as well only have it at 2420 right now but has been quite simple.
When I get home I will take a look at what I changed to help point you in the right direction.
Do realize that the article here is done on a different motherboard/bios so it looks a little different that ours so you have to look around a little to find the same settings :)

Ok back at home. So i do have the exact same MB as you so here is what I have done so far.
Get into the bios, go to the Advance tab, choose the Jumperfree configuration.
From there the 3rd option down is called CPU frequency (should be at 200 right now)
All I have done is upped that to 220 and saved which has me running at 2420 instead of the stock 2100.
So far it has been stable and I have run 3dmark05, 06 and prime 95 with no
problems. You may want to move it to 205, then 210 etc if you want to
play it safe but I moved to 220 right off the bat with no troubles.
Hope that helps.
