Starting to OC my processor some and curious to what temps I should be shooting for, for idle temps. Right now I have it a 2420 with all stock cooling and the temps sit around 37-41C. idle. Is that about right or am I already running hot? Thanks for any input.

You should run prime95 etc to stress the CPU. then check your temps!

50 to 55C (under load) should be your max when overclocking.

I checked my 3800+ X2 temperatures today. Stock I get 33/44 idle/load. Overclocked to 2.4 I get 33/46. Ambient temp is around 20. Running on stock cooling. I'm thinking about getting Arctic Silver as a cheap way to lower temperatures. I'm not really up for buying a new HSF.

Arctic Freezer 64 Pro? (A)

And with thermal paste you have to whipe on a really thin layer, otherwise it will choke your processor to high temperatures instead of low ones ;)
