754 Clawhammer oc'ing

Yes, an older processor, but still worth overclocking.
I've currently got it at
10x205 for 2050. Just a little oc, I'm just starting out after all.
A few things I'd like to know if others can help, what's the common max temp for ocing? 50 degress? And what's a good program that will tell me that, without me having to go into my bios to check?
I've downloaded Prime95 for stability tests, how many tests should I let it finish before deciding it's stable, and how often should I do it while increasing the fsb? It'd be a pain to do it every 1 mhz increase of the bus, but if I have to, I have to.
I'm about to download SuperPi so I can test the progress of my overclocking, too, so wish me luck!

Ok, I downloaded SuperPi mod v1.5, and I get 45 seconds even for 1m.
I'll keep posting as my oc increases and my times (hopefully) increase.

good luck highest I saw was 2.45ghz on that proc but average was more like 2.26 or so. if the ram can handle it you should be able to just watch the temps and I hope you have better luck that I did with my recent time.

Well, I got 10x209 for now, got SuperPi to 44.76, a little better. Gonna prime it.
(Slow and steady wins the race!)

Stable through the 10k test, but I'm gonna get better cooling before I try any more speed, temps reaching 50 degrees celcius.

What are you system specs?
I have had a 3200+ newcastle to 2.5ghz with water and have a 3100 pairs at 2.25 24/7 in a media tower. Socket 754 is still a good sold performer!

yeah don't let it get any hotter than that lol but looks like you could get more speed with a better cooler for sure.

My specs are the same in my sig, except for the processor and the mobo. The mobo is an MSI K8N Neo v2.
I'm gonna get a Big Typhoon, I think, until I find the funds somewhere to go water, which I will do sometime.
I've tried 10x210, but it's unstable with vcore at 1.55 in bios (1.6 in cpu-z

). I'm typing on it now, but it just doesn't feel right. I'll back it down to 209, but it should be able to do a lot better than this!
My ram is holding me back, I think, it originally being 166. I'm surprised it works ok at 200.

you could try increasing ram voltage a bit , or changing the ram time to 266 and ocing it from there back to its 333 speed giving you more headway with the fsb.

To be honest, this board doesn't have great options, I don't think I could get it to go out of sync with the bus.
Since this set seems to work ok at 200, I'll trade it with a set of Corsair pc3200 and try again on that.

usually there is a spot in most boards to change ram speed hell I had one on my athlon xp board to change the speed, you have to in order to set the speed of the ddr ram you are running.

well my CPU is Clawhammer too but the 2800+ version

My oc is.. well see the picture
It is tested with Prime and Memtest. 2410 was the highest oc of mine (stable)
