bad Cpu?

I'm thinking that my new CPU is a p.o.s or its the ram or motherboard.
my reasons:
Orthos running the test: Large, In-place FFTs - stress some RAM
my system will last from 4 seconds to 1 min 18 seconds so far as the best all the other tests run fine (6hours). The super pi fails periodically after 512k i finally got one 1m run.
i still suspect that its just the combo that i am using
Abit K9N SLI
X2 4600+
2gb DDR2 800 (adata lol)
i think it may be just crappy ram, and could explain the intermittent problems with super pi. but have swapped that out and tried OCZ ddr2 800 and the same thing happens.
i do plan on doing some low end overclocking on either option that i choose
if i change my setup i think ill try a Intel setup P965/OCZ 2gb DDR800/E6420 and just overclock it
any opinions comments would be greatly appreciated.
