Once again, I was throwing out unused toys from the kid's playroom.
I noticed a Mike Wazowski toy (probably a McDonald's toy) was the
same color as my computer case. I started to think where to mount
him.
Then I got the bright idea of mounting my power and HDD leds in the toy.
The always on green light would be his eye, and the flickering red would
go in his mouth. First step was to dismantle the toy.
I ended up drilling two holes to hold the leds and dremeled two grooves in the back of the legs to hide the power wires. Two very small screws were also used to mount 'Mike' to a piece of aluminum. Some hot glue was used to hold things together.
I took some model paint and carefully painted the inside of the mouth red to disguise the red led and also made the eyes bloodshot. A little green model paint was also added to the eye to make it more realistic.
Wazowski was mounted using one of the existing bolts I used to hold the microwave window in place.
In action, Mike's mouth flashes whenever the HDD is in action.
