Wow that really cool. I was thinkin about making my own controller but honestly when i starting googeling how to do it - it just looked over my head. hopefully my box turns out half as nice as yours. Things have been delayed a bit - with the two bad motherboards so far. I am giving myself a realistic goal of having it done by the end of June.

Out of curiosity, what material are you planning on using for the box?

For my box I went with 5/8" MDF. Put a coat of primer on, then went with a high-gloss enamel. So far the moisture in the garage hasn't had any effect on the MDF. Guess I sealed it up well enough.

mdf or plywood would be a good choice, solid wood is a total waste unless this is going to be like a heirloom livingroom center piece

I am not exactly sure what type of wood, probably MDF. The only thing is that I am going to be mounting a 10' subwoofer in the bottom so solid wood might give me better sound. at least for the enclosure of the subwoofer.

How about Cherry? Give it a real nice finish!

i wouldnt recomend using solid wood unless your friend is an experienced woodwoker, its expensize and easy to crack and splinter. as for better sound, you wont notice the difference between mdf and soild wood

I received my adaptor. I am at a loss. i am still getting random freezups with this new board. The puzzeling part is it is just so random I can't figure out where the problem is.
its happened:
1)just idle on desktop,
2)playing games
3)while shutting down
4)installing programs

This new board does seem muchmore stable than the last one. (fewer freezes)

Until i can figure out why the heck this is happening I wont be putting together my box.. ](*,)

Other than the mainboard, have you tried using other hardware? RAM comes to mind...

This is kinda far fetched, but are you wiping the disk good each time? I use Derik's Boot and Nuke and just let it run.

Other things to try, have you pulled out all unnecessary cards, drives, etc.?

i didnt wipe the HD. I just did a format then install of XP pro. i did run a disk scan yesterday and every checked out perfect. even though i used a known good stick of RAM - i really think that is the problem. maybe these G.skil 1gb sticks are not compatible with the ECS motherboards and thats causing the problems.
