Thanks guys, I was actually pretty scared painting this, I've seen how badly these paint job attempts can turn out...
camaroguy1998 wrote:Was that pattern planned out or more random in choice?
Most definitely planned out, I actually drew something up to help me plan out the first set of stripes. I did it freehand and made a few minor changes along the way but I'm glad I made that little roadmap. As for the second layer, I used this picture (56k warning) as a guide. Like I said before, just the second set of stripes took me over an hour to layout. It's really hard to visual how it will turn out...

Well I've got some clearcoats to spray today (may need to break out the space heater) but I really do appreciate the comments! :supz:

Odd, I'd told Dan yesterday that jabtech had just emailed me saying their AM2 GTZ brackets were back in stock... Maybe it'll be coming along shortly. Can't hurt to call them up and ask

why did you get a ram block? those are really just a waste of your flow as ram is going to hit its limit on a set of copper heatsinks...

Because I didn't realize it was a waterblock when I ordered it...it was late and I was tired.

I'll give it a shot and if I'm not happy with it then I'll break out the individual ramsinks.

I used one of those ram blocks on a modded 7900GT some time back and they do work as intended without really hurting flow. You get the most out of the block when you volt mod the memory on your video card , but normal OC temps are nice as well.

OK I finally got off my lazy butt and did some more work, it's not entirely finished (still need to do the front panel) but it's done enough to be up and running.

First up, my horribly planned out loop, this thing was a bitch to bleed...was a good learning experience to say the least. When it comes time to drain I'll definitely be rerouting everything though.
Image

Next up we have a shot of my harddrive harness made entirely of zipties...pretty much the theme of this whole build though
Image

Now for the fun part: Wire Management

Oh the horror!
Image

After about 15 minutes of cursing we arrive at this
Image

Much better, but will the back panel fit?
Image

Why yes, yes it does...

Now, this next picture is not for the squeamish. Or the fainthearted.

It's horrible!

It's ghastly!!

And probably not safe for young children!!!

IT'S FRANKENCASE!!! (these statements have not been evaluated by the FDA or anybody really)
Image

OK so it's not that bad but I do hope to get the front finished in the next month or so. As for the orange peel paint, I'm going to let it keep curing for another month or two just to be sure it's completely settled before I sand it down.

Did you mount your HD with Zip ties? If so, that's awesome!

It's bad that the cables in the back look tidier before you had to arrange them to make the sidepanel fit on. :P

Cable tie mounting ftw! (every mod has to have a bit of ghetto in it!)

Looking good, but would have loved to seen a better pipe layout and front done, so get on it :axe:
