Ultra Blue in 2 weeks..
Ultra Blue in 2 weeks..
I heard Ultra was having a mod contest and wanted to finally be in one. So I got thei Ultra Aluminus case from Radioshack.com (lol, yea Radioshack) for $49. They had Ultra 500 watt PS for $9.99 so I got one of them too. I am pretty fussy about Quiet and effeciency as well. This turned out pretty nice for 2 weeks.
The really cool part is the lack of wires.(visable ones)
Here is where the wires are..(check out the new PS)

actually once you start soldering its pretty fast, On my new build (CrossFlow) I am putting terminals on the wire ends and soldering the terminals to the mobo. Even easier.
And honestly at first I didnt do it for looks, I have been trying to develop better air cooling..

than I put shrink tubing over the ends.

Most awesome indeed.
So theoretically, you could take the plugs off the front side and solder them there too? Cool.
Now I REALLY should get a crappy old motherboard to practice it on. (I was debating getting one to practice Linux on.) Maybe a early s370 or AMD K6....

At first I thought about reversing the sockets but there isant enough room. So I just soldered the wires 1 by one. Careful though they will be backwards(mirror image)The Black Pumpkin wrote:Most awesome indeed.

And yea it is funny when people look at it and say "where are the wires?"

Well yeah it would work if you had room to switch over the sockets, but I meant taking off the sockets completely and soldering the wires to the front instead of the back. There would be no point to it as it would look messy, but the fact that it's possible is to me awesome.

a contact point is a contact point no matter what side of te PCB it is on...
I love it because no wires are plugged into the front of the board at all, yet the system runs... makes people look twice. A very kick ass mod indeed.
