Should I Lap it?

So seen as though my water cooling loop is disassembled I was contemplating lapping both my IHS and Storm block.
I have not lapped anything before but am OK with my hands and am feeling fairly confident about it. I know how long a proper job will take, so hope I can pay attention that long
But I just wanted to know if its worth it, the finish on the storm block, while not shiny mirrored is a fairly decent one (read: flat) with a possible tiny bow towards the middle. I haven't checked the flatness of my CPU but suspect that it sucks.
I guess the warantee on my E6600 is void seen as though I overclock, but it is in good condition as until now its only ever been under water.
