Corsair 4000D Airflow...

Post by camaroguy1998 »

The case I used for my last build is the Corsair 4000D Airflow!
I Realized how much a case's airflow is effected by side panel removal today!
A few months ago I had issues with the system, yeah the memory. I'm sure most will remember.
During that time I took the window/side panel off and did not put it back on until today!
Cleaning up my room and seen the panel in the corner, thought I need to put that back on!
When I checked the computer the temp on the AIO cooler was 27.8C Thought not bad!
When I checked the computer again after putting the panel on and it idled for a few hours the temp dropped to 25.3C
2.5C drop just by closing it up kind of surprised me!
Makes me feel good about my case choice!

Isn't it weird! Everything in my head always says the more open it is the cooler it is as it gets more airflow, which is not the case (hah unintended pun).
Remember, I am opinionated and nothing I say or do reflects on anyone or anything else but me :finga:

my current case is the 5000D Airflow. I dumped the massive watercooling setup I had in a Core x2 after my pump died and couldn't find another D2 at a reasonable price (thanks covid). Dropped back to some spare air cooling I had in the junk drawer.

I like the case, it has room for me to go back to water when redo my system. Thinking around December this year maybe, my 6th gen Intel is getting a little long in the tooth. Car is paid off in couple months, need to wait for those funds to be redirected lol.

That is what I've always thought, at least until I bought my first Antec 900! That 200mm exhaust fan makes a big difference!
The 4000D Airflow is built just for that...AirFlow!
Something I also noticed, I have a Custom Curve set for the fans through iCUE!
When I had the panel off, I could hear it run the fans up every 20 or 30 mins!
I have not heard it run up at all and temp is holding steady! 25.3C to 25.7C @ Idle.

I wish I had a 5000D Airflow!
Unfortunately, the 5000D came out a couple months after I bought my 4000D!
I'm not going to complain, the room inside the 4000 is more than I need!
