It does have to be said though out of the 56 reviews Johnny Guru has posted there the best are not always the most expensive. I was very surprised to find that the Ulta X pro 600 was rated almost as high as the Corsiar 620W ( a 9 for the Ultra and a 9.5 for corsair) but the Ulta is $50 bucks cheaper. The part that I found the most troubling is that a company can make several PSUs like Antec does and they are not all good units. The Antec Earthwats 500W scored a 9 as did the True power 850W but the 650W Truepower blew out without completing the tests. The conclusion for me is almost...don't buy a PSU unless you can find some testing results on it first.

Honestly this thing lit up faster than Kleenex roasted by a flamethrower. But it did surprise me somewhat, making it all the way to 291W before bucking the kicket.

This so far has turned out to be the only PSU in the roundup that has made me feel sorry for it.(topower)

Wow. Just... wow. What's a bad capacitor capable of? Take a look at the 12V scope shots. That's what ripple exceeding 400mV looks like. 210mV on the 3.3V too. That's not just outside the ATX specification, that's not even in the same city(topower)

for some inexplicable reason, they cut the legs off one side of each. Thus, reducing the capacity of each by half. Why on Earth would they do this? I have no idea. Just thinking about it makes my head hurt. Maybe I should stop smacking my forehead. With the wall.

Superflower sent me a PSU for review. I pulled it in and it zapped my computer. Thankfully resetting the bios and doing a repair on Windows XP was all that was required to get my system back up and running. I was actually amazed the OS took a hit because the computer didn't even make it past the BIOS before coming to a crashing halt.

Superflower did sent another unit and I've been using everyday since. It has a nice 14cm fan on it, and is pretty quiet.

It seems JohnnyGuru has a rather expensive testing machine that many who review PSUs do not. It would be nice if someone had the ability to review say 10 600w PSUs from the highest price down so we could see where the "break" point is.
