chief, what about my setup? I think the memory fans are taking out the cold from the two peltiers located on its side. The coolit heatsink is actually touching the metal parts of my fan. Anyway, I took out the memory fans and I'm back to my old temperature. Thanks.

Hi everyone, newbie to overclocking but I read all your comments on the Eliminator and decided to take the plunge. If you are interested, here's my situation:

FX-60 CPU - 2.6Ghz overclocked to 2870 Mhz (13.5 multiplier and 205Mhz bus speed, it was the most stable)
Kingston Hyper X DDR500 RAM running on 2.7 v
Winfast 8800 GTX, clocked normally

When I received my Eliminator in the mail, it had the green tubing and the 2 prong plug so I thought I was screwed. The date on it is 2207, so it appears newer than most of the ones posted here. Anyway, installed it and ran 3DMark06. The result? cpu temp, high 50's, PWM temp, high 60's - low 70's. It didn't crash and I was NOT able to run the computer overclocked at this level with a Zalman fan or a water-cooling kit. I also believe I'm pushing my PSU to it's limit (it's rated at 500W) and I think that's why the PWM temp is high. I purchased an 800W PSU and its on its way. If anyone is interested, I'll post the results with the new power supply to determine if it made a difference. I have been running my Eliminator every day (not continuously though) for a week and haven't experienced any issues with it. Hope this was informative.

hueydvr38: Are you running the Eliminator on the high setting? Also, try touching the blue reservoirs to see if they are cool. If they feel warm, then your tecs probably aren't working properly and you should send it back for a replacement.

Yes, running on high. I touched the blue peltier on the top (only one I could get to) and it was relatively cool to the touch (I would say about the same temp as the ambient air). It didn't feel warm. What do you think that means?

If the peltiers are cool to the touch, then they are working. I would check to see if the pump is working as that could be your problem. Your temps shouldn't be in the high 50s if the Eliminator is working properly. Perhaps your power supply is forming a hot spot near the Eliminator which is causing higher temps. Let us know how it runs after you get your new power supply.

Respek: Looks like the Power Supply definitely had something to do with it. I purchased the Gigabyte Odin GT 800w (it comes with power monitoring software, kinda cool) and after installing, here's some numbers:

Abit Fata1ity AN8-SLI board
FX-60 CPU
2 GB Kingston HyperX DDR500 RAM (2.7v)
Gigabyte 800w PSU
Coolit Eliminator CPU cooler
Winfast 8800gtx video card (clocked normally)

CPU clock speed = 2900 Mhz (14.5 multiplier @ 200 Mhz bus speed) (stock speed is 2.6 Ghz --13 x 200, 1.35v)
CPU voltage = 1.50v

CPU temp @ idle = 29c
PWM temp @ idle = 41c

CPU temp @ moderate load (defragging HD) = 39c
PWM temp " " " = 50c

CPU temp @ max load (running 3DMark06) = 55c
PWM temp " " " = 70c

Power consumption peak at max load = 419 w
PSU temp throughout = 42c

Sooooo.....looks like having a decent PSU can make a difference...

It has definitely been a learning experience since I took the dive into overclocking...I hope this info was useful to whomever reads it...

Default CPU clocking (2600Mhz): 9504 3DMark06 3D marks
Overclocked to 2900Mhz: 10106 3DMark06 3D marks

Well I was just sitting in my living room and editing pictures for an article on my laptop when I kept hearing a beeping noise.. Turns out it was the system post beep on my desktop system. I removed the door and went right for the CoolIt Eliminator and was so hot I couldn't touch it. I hit delete to enter the BIOS and the temperature was over 80C!!!!!!! By the time I grabbed my camera and compact flash card from the living room it was down to 74C and that is where I took the picture at. The blinds were open and the Eliminator was set to medium... I guess the sun on the case was too much for it to handle with the system at just an idle...

Happy F'n weekend to me... The Intel Core 2 QX6700 is dead.... My $950 processor is fried to **** cause of this cooler... I'm not happy at all

tell them to replace your processor because their cooler is a faulty POS.

I just went and worked out at the gym with Justin and have cooled down a bit... I'm going to let it sit overnight and tear it down tomorrow and test everything to see what all is bad and good and see what happened. I also e-mailed the CEO of CoolIt Systems and am awaiting a response. Three strikes and your out and it seems this one is a strike out... It works great for a few days and since a number of review sites test out their samples and ebay it before they post their review they never do long term testing. In our case we left it running 24/7 and found out that the Eliminator doesn't seem to be able to handle non-stop use.

Wow, this is surprising considering you received an Eliminator from the CEO himself. Perhaps you are right about the stress testing as it reveals how durable the product is. My friend has a QX6700 but he uses the Freezone and has no problems (except for minor coolant leakage on the cpu block). How come you don't run it on HIGH if you have it on 24/7? I'm beginning to think that the Eliminator was not built to handle quad core cpus. Although, I think you could run a Q6600 with an Eliminator. Most of the people I've seen use Freezone/WC or more advanced cooling with their quad core setups.

Well I talked to Geoff (the CEO) via e-mail and he's going to be looking into this again for me... poor guy has done this a few times with me and tells me everytime it's just me.

I agree with you respek that quad-cores are too much for the Eliminator.

Sadly I didn't see any warnings on the box or their product page not to cool one with it as it has just this:

i can't imagine using one of these to cool 2 GPU's.

Mine still works like a charm atleast it was working when my PSU killed my computer, although ive always been nervous using it, im thinking of scraping it and getting a thermalright extreme 120 or whatever the hell its called, liquid coolings too damn nerve wrecking for me. Atleast copper and AS5 don't break down.

Ofcourse since im a poor college student all the things i want to get wont happen until schools out and I can save up some money lol.
